Terms of use

The ground rules, in plain English. Last updated July 2, 2026.

What Local Church is

Local Church is a free community guide to Christian events, churches, and Christian-owned businesses, starting in Windsor-Essex, Ontario. By using the site or subscribing to the digest, you're agreeing to these terms.

Event information

Event details are gathered automatically from churches' own public websites and reviewed before publishing, but churches change plans and websites go stale. Always confirm dates, times, and locations with the church before attending. We're a guide, not the organizer — events belong to the churches that run them, and we're not responsible if an event is moved, changed, or cancelled.

Listings, claims & opt-outs

Church and business listings are built from publicly available information. Being listed is free and doesn't imply a listing endorses us (or that we endorse them). If you represent a listed church or business you can claim the listing; we verify claims by hand and may ask for confirmation. Any organization can ask for corrections or removal at any time via our contact page — opt-outs are honored permanently. Submitting a claim for an organization you don't actually represent is not allowed.

Paid placements

Some churches and businesses pay for extra visibility — featured badges, homepage spots, newsletter placement. Paid placement is always labeled, buys visibility only, and never changes what we publish about anyone else. Our pricing is public.

Playing fair

Don't abuse the site: no false claim requests, no spamming our forms, no scraping at a volume that degrades the service, no using subscriber-facing features to send anything unlawful. We may remove content or refuse service to protect the community and the site.

Links to other sites

Listings and events link out to church and business websites, registration pages, and maps. Those sites are theirs, not ours — their content and policies are their own.

No warranties

The site is provided as-is, free of charge. We work hard to keep it accurate and online, but we can't promise it will always be either, and to the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for losses that come from relying on it. These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario, Canada.

Changes & contact

If we change these terms meaningfully, we'll update this page and the date at the top. Questions? Email [email protected].
